PhoneOgraphy Cebu, a motley group of photography enthusiasts with the collective belief that a good photo is a good photo no matter the camera used, gathered last October 03, 2015 to participate in the Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk using just smartphone cameras.
Our route traced Fuente Osmeña to Jones Ave.,, walked along Pelaez-Legaspi streets, and through Basilica del Sto. Niño.
I still have a lot of learning to do with composing good photos. A friend whom I asked for an objective criticism of my shots told me they were rather flat-looking which I kind of agree. I need vision for new angles.
Here are some of the shots I took, both in color and black and white. These were edited using the phone’s built-in editor, ISO in auto (because I forgot to set it accordingly), resolution set to the highest and white balance locked in daylight. Phone model was a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact.
Most of my phoneOgraphy buddies use third party editing apps to edit their shots such as Snapseed or Lightroom Mobile. Yet, it takes a good eye to not overedit the photos which is one of the most common mistakes among noob shooters. Still, at the end of the day, everything boils down to composition and a keen eye for detail.
